Each year, the best proposals for Symposia and other featured sessions are selected and then finalised by the Programme Committee. Our aim is to deliver an outstanding programme with the right balance of clinical relevance and scientific quality. The sessions, which involve leading experts in respiratory medicine, but also in other areas, cover the entire spectrum of research and practice in respiratory medicine, from cell and molecular biology, through clinical diagnosis and management to prevention of public health.

The 18,719 attendees of the Vienna Congress represented more than 120 different countries. During the Barcelona Congress some specific sessions will be translated simultaneously into Spanish.

This year is truly special as we will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the ERS. In addition to this special occasion, 2010 is the Year of the Lung. Special scientific and social events are being planned.

The Fira de Barcelona Congress Centre plays a strategic role in the Catalan and Spanish economies as a platform for economic promotion and international projection of exhibitors. It provides excellent and modern facilities, and is easily accessible by public transport.

Barcelona is a breathtaking city. As the cradle of many cultures and a witness to major transformations, the city provides a great opportunity to explore and experience its vibrant atmosphere, architecture, culinary delights, fine wine, captivating music and passionate people.
