"Call for Interest" from individuals wishing to apply for membership of the Proposal Review Committee ("PRC")

Source: UNITAID (http://www.unitaid.eu/en/Requests-for-proposals-RFP.html) UNITAID is a global health initiative, established to provide sustainable, predictable and additional funding to significantly impact on market dynamics to reduce prices and increase the availability and supply of high quality medicines, diagnostics and related commodities for the treatment of HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis, primarily for populations in low-income and lower-middle income countries. UNITAID provides funding for the procurement of medicines, diagnostics and related commodities on the basis of project proposals approved by the UNITAID Board and works primarily through collaborative actions with strategic partners. The Proposal Review Committee ("PRC") is an independent, impartial team of experts tasked with providing technical expertise to UNITAID on proposals and related projects submitted to UNITAID for funding. Specifically, the PRC advises UNITAID on: - the review of Proposals submitted to UNITAID for funding, taking into account the criteria and indicators established by the UNITAID Board; - recommendations for funding of Proposals made by the Board; and - interim and/or mid-term review of Proposal implementation. PRC Core members will normally be appointed for an initial term of office of 3 years renewable, will receive an honorarium for their services as well as travel expenses and per diems in accordance with WHO procedures. The PRC shall meet on an as needed basis face to face or by telephone conference. Fluency in English is required as this is the working language of the PRC. A transparent criteria-based selection process will be followed which seeks to achieve a significant proportion of members from each of the WHO regions, representation from public and private sectors and civil society.
